What is a push-up?

There are a lot of different definitions of the push-up.

This was a topic on here a couple of years ago and I wanted to talk about it again. My definition of a push-up is the least of my definition. I'm sure it's just semantics. But if push-ups are anything you know what I mean. The push-up is one of the most important exercises in the world. It gets me better and stronger every time. I love it. I know other people love it. If you don't like push-ups, don't do push-ups. If you hate push-ups, do them on another day.

Push-up for Beginners. There are a lot of different push-up variations out there to do. My favorite is the one I am about to share with you. It's designed to build the strength and core while you are working your muscle and the muscles of the back while moving through the push-up. It doesn't have to be the same exact push-up in every variation. Here we have the top of the head to start. Then we move the arms out to the sides. For an advanced version, we can start with the arms in front. Once the chin is up, we then move the shoulders forward. The arms can then come back as before.

So, here is the first push up. Grab a dumbbell or medicine ball, and stand in front of a wall or a bench. As you do a push up (or in this case a squat), bring the dumbbell towards the body, and hold on to the dumbbell. Did you know that you can also do push-ups while jumpin rope?
